HarborWalk is established.

Created by the city and the Boston Redevelopment Authority, it is the beginning of an effort to create a 47-mile, publicly accessible pedestrian walkway along Boston Harbor from the Neponset River to Chelsea Creek. The trail is subsequently operated by a private, nonprofit organization, Boston Harbor Now.  Some 43 miles of the trail are completed as of 2025.
